How do Labour Rights Score in New Zealand?

The Labour Rights Index (LRI) paints a vivid picture of a nation's workforce by measuring various parameters, with the labour force participation rate being a significant factor. New Zealand, with a population of 4.9 million, has a current LRI score of 66.5, lower than the previous year's score of 68.5, indicating a limited availability of suitable employment opportunities. While New Zealand has received a perfect score of 100% for four parameters, namely Maternity at work, Safe Work, Fair Treatment, and Trade Union, its Fair Wages segment has a meagre rating of 20, the lowest among all the parameters.

What's interesting is the LRI scores for the ten datasets, which range from 20 to 100. Fair Wages, Family Responsibility, and Social and Employment Security have scores of 20, 25, and 40, respectively, while the other parameters have significantly better scores ranging from 75 to 100.

Australia, New Zealand's neighbour, has an overall LRI score of 77, indicating a reasonable level of accessibility to quality employment. Interestingly, Australia's LRI scores also range from 20 to 100, with some parameters receiving low scores and others earning high scores. However, Australia's overall LRI score is higher than New Zealand's, signifying a more favourable environment for the labour force.
